Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) or drones pose significant safety risks when operated near airports. The Guthrie-Edmond Regional Airport (KGOK) is an active general aviation facility with a high volume of manned aircraft operations. Any drone flight in the vicinity of the airport requires extreme caution and awareness of federal regulations.

Launching or landing a drone from airport property, including runways, taxiways, aprons, terminal areas, and parking lots is strictly prohibited without written authorization from Airport administration.

Flying Near the Airport:

Although the Guthrie-Edmond Regional Airport is in uncontrolled (Class G) airspace, all drone operators must understand that:

  • Drones and aircraft share the same low-altitude environment during takeoffs and landings.
  • Even in uncontrolled airspace, manned aircraft have the absolute right-of-way.
  • Drone pilots must not interfere with aircraft operations or approach/departure paths.
  • Operating a drone near the airport is strongly discouraged unless coordinated in advance with Airport administration.

Any drone activity conducted for commercial, educational, or media purposes on or near airport property must receive prior written approval from Airport administration.
