Parallel Taxiway and Lighting Project
Background: The project will remove and replace approximately 3,750 feet of the southern portion of the parallel taxiway to meet FAA separation standards and complement future terminal apron reconfiguration. This project will also include new LED Taxiway edge lighting for the entire 5,200 feet of Taxiway A. During this project, repairs will also be made to repair a dip in the runway near Taxiway A2.
Cost: $5,704,022
Funding: The project is funded primarily by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) with a $5,133,619 allocation. The Oklahoma Department of Aerospace and Aeronautics has provided $285,201.50 in funding towards the project. The Cities of Guthrie and Edmond are providing an equal share of $142,600.75 towards this project.
Anticipated Completion: June 2026
Update: Runway 16/34 will open on Tuesday, February 25th and normal airfield operations will resume. Back-taxiing will be required for takeoff on Runway 34 by entering the Runway at Taxiway A4.
East Side Perimeter Fencing Project
Background: The project will include the clearing, removal, and construction of 8,350 linear feet of fencing along the East side of the Guthrie-Edmond Regional Airport. The perimeter fence will be installed to deter wildlife and prevent collisions with aircraft.
Cost: $427,807
Funding: The project is primarily funded by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), providing $406,416 towards the completion of the perimeter fence. The local match for this project is $10,695.50 split 50/50 between the Cities of Guthrie and Edmond.
Anticipated Completion: March 2026
Update: Clearing for the project has been completed. Construction for the perimeter fence and associated gates will begin in late January.
Terminal Building and Aircraft Parking Apron Project
Background: This project consists of constructing a new terminal building with offices, FBO areas, a conference room, and a commercial kitchen and dining space to create a new “front door” for the community at the Airport. This project also includes a new aircraft parking apron adjacent to the terminal building for airside access. Airport road will be extended to the new parking lot for landside access to the new terminal facility.
Cost: $7,00,000
Funding: $6,000,000 in funding for this project is through the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) through a Congressionally Designated Spending request secured through the office of Representative Stephanie Bice (OK-5). The Oklahoma Department of Aerospace and Aeronautics (ODAA) will provide $500,000 in funds towards this project, with each City providing a $250,000 local match each.
Anticipated Completion: Summer 2027
Update: A Terminal Planning Working Group consisting of staff and members of the Joint Airport Board are completing final designs for the terminal facility. The project will go out for bid in Spring/Summer 2026, where a final cost will be determined.
